About Roy#

I’m a robotics-focused software engineer and systems builder from Taiwan. My work spans software, hardware, AI, and robotics. Rather than stopping when a model runs, I care about turning it into a testable, observable system that can operate safely in the real world.

Current Focus#

My current focus is robotics, embodied AI, and real-world systems. Through PawAI, XLeRobot / SO-101, AmazingHand, and Open Duck Mini, I’m learning to connect perception, ROS2, edge computing, hardware integration, safety rules, and experiment logs into workflows that can be validated repeatedly.

How I Got Here#

I started by teaching myself React and building full-stack and AI software projects. That gave me a foundation in product development and software engineering before PawAI pulled me into robotics, where sensors, compute limits, communication, physical safety, and field debugging all meet.

Why Robotics#

PawAI exposed me to cross-layer systems problems: sensors and ROS2, Jetson resource limits, safety gates between an LLM and physical control, fallback behavior when a demo fails, and debugging with incomplete observability. My software background helps me turn those problems into interfaces, state models, tests, and tools—and that is why I want to keep working in robotics.

What I’m Looking For#

I’m looking for internships in robotics, embodied AI, or real-world AI systems, especially roles involving software–hardware integration, perception, robot runtimes, developer tooling, and experiment logging.
